Welcome to Family Meal, our blog series where we shine a spotlight on one of our amazing Roomies. This month, we sat down with Katelyn Andrews, our Content Marketing Manager in the US.
Katelyn: My name is Katelyn Andrews and I am the Content Marketing Manager here at SevenRooms. I started working at the company in August 2022. It’s my job and passion to create resources to educate and inspire restaurant operators (e.g. blogs, guides, case studies, newsletters, etc.).
I am part of the Demand Generation Team within the Marketing department. Our department comprises the hardest working, fun, and talented people I’ve ever worked with. It’s refreshing to be around colleagues who have so much passion for what they do and what SevenRooms does for the restaurant industry.
Katelyn: What I love most about my role at SevenRooms is I’m able to combine my passions into one job: my love for the restaurant industry, writing, and creating content. It’s the perfect job. Not to mention I get to work with the most amazing, talented and hardworking people that I’ve had the pleasure of working with so far in my career.
Katelyn: Within the Marketing team, we always strive to be creative and test new ideas, a.k.a. Change Up the Menu. A few months ago, I had the idea to change up our monthly client and prospect newsletter. The old newsletter was more of a distribution channel for our latest blog content and lacked a narrative or theme. What I wanted to create was a conversation. I wanted SevenRooms to have a narrative and to make people laugh! So I changed up the menu and created Heard! – our new company newsletter.
What three career lessons have you learned thus far?
Katelyn:
What is a non-work activity or hobby that you do? How did you get into it?
Katelyn: I do love my yoga! During the pandemic, I received my yoga teacher certification to keep myself sane and deepen my practice — though I did teach for a little while! Admittedly, I’ve been slacking lately, but it’s a New Year’s resolution to bring it back into my daily life.
Katelyn: You know, I have to say that some of my most amazing dining experiences are the ones that were least expected. For example, a few years ago, friends and I walked into a pub in Valencia, Spain, and there was a traditional Spanish tortilla displayed on the bar that you could order pieces of. It was something so simple, but it was the most amazing thing we ate that entire trip, and it was completely unexpected!
This interview has been edited for length and clarity.
