Checking In For F&B Report

When you think about hospitality, hotels are typically the first thing that come to mind. But what many don’t consider is that it’s not only a well-appointed room and a knowledgeable concierge that guests remember – it’s often the experience they had at the on-site restaurant or bar.

SevenRooms’ recently released study, Checking In For F&B, examined people’s preferences around hotel restaurants and bars, uncovering that F&B holds significant weight. Today’s guests are craving authentic, well-executed F&B experiences, and hotels are well-positioned to bring these elements to the forefront for travelers — keeping guests returning for many years to come.

Key findings include:

65% of Americans would choose one hotel over another if the hotel offers a complimentary breakfast
51% of Americans would be more inclined to book with a hotel that includes a complimentary drink or meal upon arrival
One in 3 (34%) Americans want a variety of food options for all dietary preferences and restrictions
23 percent want their hotel to send personalized offers to book again based on previous dining and stay history
One in five (19%) Americans want their hotel to ask for dietary preferences/restrictions prior to the stay

Research Methodology

SevenRooms commissioned YouGov PLC – a third party, professional research and consulting organization – to poll the views of 1,254 individuals who agreed to take part. Fieldwork was undertaken online between August 26-27, 2019. The figures have been weighted and are representative of all US adults (aged 18+).
